How to track singles by condition and cost.
If a Near Mint copy and a Heavily Played copy of the same card share one line in your system, you can't know what you paid for either. Here's how shops usually handle it, and how Foil Haven does.

Why does condition-level tracking matter?
Condition changes both sides of the deal. You pay less for a played copy and you sell it for less. Say you bought a Near Mint copy for $40 and a Moderately Played one for $15. Those are two different margins on the same card name. Lump them into one product with an average cost and you can't tell which sale made money.
It also matters at the pack desk. If the system only knows "4 in stock", nothing stops the played copy from going out on a Near Mint order.
How do card shops usually track it?
A spreadsheet is the most common answer: one row per card, a condition column, a cost column. It works until cost stops being updated, or a sale at the counter never makes it into the sheet.
Most point-of-sale tools, including general ones like Shopify and Square, count stock as a quantity on a product or variant. You can make each condition a variant, but you still get a count, not a copy with its own cost and location.
How Foil Haven does it
How do you track each copy in Foil Haven?
- 01
Take it in as its own copy
Search the card by name or collector number, pick the printing and finish, and record condition (NM, LP, MP, HP or DMG), what you paid and where it's filed. The copy gets its own SKU.
- 02
Price it against the market
The market price for that printing and finish sits next to your cost, so you see the margin before you set a price. Set it by hand, or let the repricer do it on Growth and Pro.
- 03
Sell that exact copy
When a copy sells, that copy leaves stock, not one like it. On online orders the pack-desk scan checks you pulled the right one, so the Near Mint listing doesn't ship as a played card.
- 04
Read what you made
A sold copy shows the margin you actually made on it: its sale price against its own cost, not an average across every copy with the same name.
Condition carries through to buying too: set a buy percentage per condition, or post a dollar buy price per card and condition. See how the buylist works.
What does it cost, and what's on each plan?
Item-level inventory, intake, CSV import and export, the kiosk and the buylist are on the free Counter plan. Growth ($79 a month) adds the repricer with one store-wide rule. Pro ($149 a month) adds per-game pricing rules, the register and all 10 games. No plan takes a percentage of your sales.
What doesn't Foil Haven do yet?
There's no camera scanning at intake yet; you find each card by name or number. Flesh and Blood and Riftbound have no market price feed, so those are priced by hand. And one record per copy is built for singles worth tracking. It's more care than a box of ten-cent commons needs.
Questions about tracking singles by condition
What conditions does Foil Haven track?
Five: Near Mint (NM), Lightly Played (LP), Moderately Played (MP), Heavily Played (HP) and Damaged (DMG). Every copy carries its own condition, and foil or other finishes are part of the printing you pick.
Can I record what I paid for each copy?
Yes. Cost is stored per copy at intake, so two Near Mint copies bought at different prices keep different costs. When you buy a card through the buylist, the price you paid becomes that copy's cost automatically.
Why not just count quantities per condition?
A count tells you that you have four Near Mint copies. It can't tell you that one cost $12 and another cost $40, which copy is in which binder, or whether the one you just sold made money. With one record per copy, all three are answerable.
Can I bring in my existing inventory with its conditions?
Yes. Foil Haven imports inventory exports from BinderPOS, CrystalCommerce, TCGplayer Pro, BigCommerce and Square, plus its own CSV format. On a real 6,361-single BinderPOS export from our design partner, 98.5% matched to the exact printing; the rest went to a review list instead of being guessed.
Which games have market prices?
Foil Haven's catalog has about 170,000 cards across 10 games. Eight have free market-price feeds. Flesh and Blood and Riftbound don't yet, so you price those by hand. The free Counter plan and Growth each carry up to 4 games; Pro carries all 10.
